The antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles has been widely documented in recent years. These nanometric-sized metal particles (millionths of a millimeter) have been shown to have high activity in destroying microorganisms and delaying their proliferation, which is why they have been used as a protective coating. in various types of materials. Using green chemistry techniques we have developed a new method to synthesize this type of silver nanomaterial with the purpose of exercising its protective activity in the field of germplasm storage under the brand Nanosilver Germplasm Protection, for this the silver nanoparticles are immobilized in disks of flexible polyurethane foam. These polyurethane discs supported with silver nanoparticles with an average size of 30 nm promote fungistatic and fungicidal activity, destroying the membrane of phytopathogenic fungi and at the same time stopping their growth on the collected seeds and fruits, allowing better storage of the germplasm.
